| Overview of Dialysis |
• Dialysis is the main treatment for end-stage; renal disease (ESRD)
• It replaces three main kidney tasks:
• Removing wastes from the blood
• Removing excess fluid from the blood
• Keeping electrolytes (electrically charged particles) in balance
There are two types of dialysis:
• Hemodialysis (HD)
• Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
Hemodialysis is most common.
